America is full of pyros, and we thank them for their stupidity because it provides us with quality entertainment.

Independence day is full of huge firework displays, but when people try to DIY it at home it rarely turns out well. Here are some of the best firework fails. You’re welcome.

A little too close for comfort

This amazing quality video shows what happens when you set off fireworks close to a bunch of people and cars. The cars seemed to love it.

Failure to launch

Just when you think everything is going great… Nope, the firework thinks otherwise.

 Bomb or fireworks?

Somehow, this is totally legal and normal to the people watching. Mushroom cloud or firework display?

When the commentary is funnier than the fail

At least there are subtitles. This man clearly thought he was about to meet Jesus because of this huge firework fail. Dat waz awesome.

Wrong yard…

Try explaining this one to the old lady next door… Just smile and wave boys, smile and wave.

Bonus: Safety tips on how to avoid firework fails

  1. Obey all laws in the area you choose to set fireworks off. If it’s at your own home, you make the rules, so…
  2. Read all cautionary labels before setting fireworks off so you know the damage your firework fails will cause ahead of time.
  3. Never give fireworks to children. Unless their firework fails would be funny.
  4. ALWAYS use fireworks outdoors so everyone else can laugh at your firework fails.
  5. Have a bucket of water and a hose nearby so you can put out any small fires caused by your firework fails. Also so you can spray those who laugh.
  6. Do not experiment with home-made fireworks. Unless you’re a badass and totally know what you’re doing.
  7. Light one firework at a time and quickly back away. But light more than one if you want it to look cool.
  8. Alcohol and fireworks don’t mix. If you’re a loser.
  9. Wear safety glasses when shooting off fireworks. Don’t wear them if you want to get laid.
  10. Dispose of used fireworks by wetting them down and placing them in a metal trash can away from buildings and anything combustable. Or let the street cleaner get them.
