Nike’s HyperAdapt 1.0: The self-lacing shoe of the future is now

You’ve done it again Nike. You heard what the people wanted and you made it happen. Nike’s brand new self-lacing shoe, inspired by the ones Michael J. Fox wore in Back to The Future II, is a perfect sneaker for those who have the drive to run a half-marathon but call it quits at bending over to tie their shoes.

You’ll be the coolest kid on the block when your little piggies go to the market sportin’ these bad boys. Engineered with fishing wire and a pressure plate in the sole, these futuristic kicks are a must-have if you love shitty sequels, overhyped memorabilia and making your friends feel inferior.

Nike’s self-lacing shoe, the HyperAdapt 1.0, has been in the works for almost 30 years and is finally scheduled to be released on November 28th. You’d think that after three decades though these shoes would be a little more impressive then some string and LED lights, just saying.

With all of the electronic components of the shoe, yes you have to charge them. They have a clip-on charger, similar to the Apple Watch, and takes about 3 hours to charge completely. They have a longer battery life than Android and better durability then the last walking-based electronic that ‘blew-up’ the market, (I’m looking at you Hoverboard).

If you thought that the price of sneakers were already outrageous, the price of Nike’s self-lacing shoes may give you a heart-attack. While they haven’t released a set dollar sign yet, Nike has warned potential buyers of the HyperAdapt 1.0’s to expect a “higher price-tag“. So I’m guessing that it will probably be a lot closer to a car-payment then a reasonable price for a pair of running shoes.

Nike’s self-lacing shoe is a perfect fit whether you’re searching for the coolest new technology to hit the market or a pair of shoes to make you appear physically active when in reality you’re just gonna wear them while watching Maury and shoveling down Doritos at 10 am.
