Florida Man Pays For Coke With Alligator

Fast food jobs are the worst. The pay sucks. People treat you like shit. No wonder the turnover rate is high. As somebody who eats a lot of fast food, I always try to treat the people making and delivering my food with respect, because it’s one of the hardest jobs you can do and it’s not exactly satisfying. Especially for the person working in the drive through window at Wendy’s in Loxahatchee, Florida, who handed Florida Man his soda and got an alligator thrown at her for her trouble:

Joshua James, 23, of Jupiter, allegedly pulled up to the drive-thru window for his order, got a drink from the employee, and then threw the alligator into the restaurant, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told the station.

James is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, illegally killing, possessing or capturing an alligator, and second-degree larceny petit theft, according to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.

So obviously the deadly weapon is the alligator; and the illegally possessing or capturing an alligator makes sense. But I am curious about what the second-degree larceny petit theft charge is for: is it for stealing the soda or stealing the alligator? According to Florida law, stealing something under $100 is punishable by 60 days in jail and a fine of $500. Wendy’s is currently advertising a 4 for $4 value meal, so that’s definitely under $100. And in 2013, a 3 foot alligator was worth $50.

That doesn’t really answer my question, but it does appear Wendy’s was making money on this deal.

Sounds like Florida Man is getting the shaft.
