Porn, it’s a lot like swearing in a certain sense. It’s perceived as filthy, very few people don’t use it at some point in their life, and we all deny that we’ve ever come into contact with it and don’t like to think any of our friends or family have either. I mean, let’s remember that some of the most conservative places in both America and on Earth watch the most of the content available.

Now, I must confess that I, a 23 year old man, have consumed more than my fair share of the stuff over the years (FF, FMF, Etc.), I’ve seen it all and don’t really feel it’s had a bad effect on my intimate abilities or how I interact with the opposite sex on a daily basis, but being the curious man that I am, I decided to look at some of the reasons why people say this form of media is unhealthy. So, below you will find some reasons to limit your porn intake, all backed up by data to support them of course. I may be a lot of things, but I’m never one to exclude the data.

1. You’ll have a stronger Relationship

According to reporting in Psychology today, studies by Dr. Nathaniel Lambert and others found that those who consumed porn regularly were likely to flirt with individuals outside their relationship in one experiment and in another more likely to cheat on their partner. 2. It can be Highly Addictive

Three years ago on the website of British newspaper The Guardian, the outlet ran a report on Cambridge Professor Dr. Valerie Voon and her work examining the brains of those addicted to adult entertainment. In her work, Ms. Voon found that those who heavily consumed porn to the detriment of other people in their lives experienced changes in their reward center akin to those that drug addicts also undergo. I don’t know about you, but that’s a pretty bad sign in my view.

3. You’ll last longer in Bed

For this one, I don’t have a study to cite. Instead, and I can’t believe I’m being this open, I speak from personal experience. From my first time and the initial years that followed, I was often very brisk when in the midst of a romantic dalliance with a woman. Thankfully no word of that ever got around, but I was still frustrated by the issue. I tried herbs, exercises and all kinds of silly ventures, and then as a method of last resort I gave up consumption of adult media entirely, much to my surprise, it worked. Now, when I need to, I can go all night. Forgive me for putting the image into your mind. But as a writer, I have a responsibility to relate to all my readers.

And that’s really all I have to say. Yes, this content can be healthy and a useful tool, but consuming it every hour on the hour like some feverish teenage boy without an Xbox is not. Be measured in your watching habits and you’ll be healthier and happier, I guarantee it.
